Latvian business databases

Here you will find a collection of Latvian business databases. These are various sites and knowledge hubs, which provide information for the purposes of market access in Latvia. The business databases are represented by both government agencies and professional organizations and unions.

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia

The Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (Latvijas Investīciju un attīstības aģentūra or LIAA) is a government agency under the control of the Ministry of Economy. Its main goals is to provide information on starting and managing business in Latvia, as well as managing and attracting investments, to entrepreneurs, both domestic and foreign. Besides the passive provision of information (articles), LIAA also provides consultations with the respective representative on all the relevant questions.

As a business database, LIAA is useful because it contains lists of all the Latvian institutions, agencies, regulations and laws that might be useful or relevant to any business, from a newly-established company that seeks tax regulations to a big corporation that searches for a correct way to attract European funding. It also provides a number of guidelines for company formation in Latvia: from registering a company to paying taxes, including some advice on the market entry in Latvia.

State Land Service Data Distribution Portal

State Land Service Data Distribution Portal (Kadastrs - Valsts zemes dienesta datu izsniegšanas serviss) of Latvia is a combined database of real estate and land in Latvia. It comprises data from a number of other registers, such as the National Address Register. All of the information is provided for free, and it is divided into public and authorized data. The public data is available to anyone, while the authorized part is accessible to those who intend to use it on a regular basis or in large volumes.

Being a combined database, the Portal offers an easy access to information about real estate and land in Latvia, which is especially useful for foreign entrepreneurs, as they are the ones who most often need local premises and real estate facilities.

Register of Enterprises

Register of Enterprises of The Republic of Latvia (Latvijas Republikas Uzņemumu reģistrs) is as government agency that primarily provides business registering service in Latvia. The Register also is responsible for registering changes in corporate documents. Additionally, it checks the registered subjects and their relevant documents for errors, warning the companies about such violations as unsubmitted annual reports and the conflicts between the legal and the real address of a company.

As a database, the Register provides a wide variety of information: various statistics for enterprises, relevant business laws (e.g. laws on intellectual property in Latvia), Chief State Notary's decisions, as well as business-related information about the interactions between Latvia and the EU.

Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Latvijas Tirdzniecības un rūpniecības kamera) is a professional, non-state, organization uniting businesses from all the industries of Latvia. The two main goals of the Chamber is to share industrial and business knowledge and to represent the companies in state institutions. On a larger scope, the Chamber aims to develop the Latvian business environment and promote fair competition on the market.

The Chamber contains databases of EU business projects, member-companies and laws concerning specific business-related topics.
